Ok, going to try to address anything I found relevant, so this may jump around
a little.

As for Bare hand dice, ok, that could use some fixing up.

Wipe the skills for all I care, if it's fine to all.. People can start over.
As long as stats and level aren't.. ok fine, aren't completely nerfed, if they
_must_ be touched at all.

By Ed: "The issue isn't with people flaunting uberness, it's just that the
accidentally aquired uberness and unbalance just made the game
plain-ol-not-fun anymore. "
Not fun...? Will nerfing or otherwise semi-nerfing characters make it somehow
_more_ fun? I hear this is just me, but whenever I can actually spend time
on Scry anywhere, I still have a blast wrecking havoc. :P

"Bugs like the flame-blade dagger given to
Maedon via. a charmie and casting flameproof on oneself make it a
brain-dead riskfree kill 100% of the time."
Um, ok the gist of that is taken, but not quite. You still need -100 fire
resist, and that isn't always easy. And MOBs still have skills that aren't
effected and will do damage. And if that's a bug that makes things not fun,
it's easily controlled.. people who find it not fun just don't use it. ;)

>From Shamu: "But the community could just as well hang out in IRC as
on a MUD, and there's a lot less time involved in managing an IRC server."
Well that's true, but not entirely. It's a Scry-based community, and it's
really not the same outside of it. Well, not always. And not with everyone.

But following that... "If someone truly has the interest and desire to bring
Scry back, then by
all means, go for it. But if no one does, then please, for the sake of
everyone who's put countless hours into the game, don't pretend that you do."

I think I agree with most of that. So far as if this is going to be a
continuous process, and after all the changes Scry will still be maintained,
then we might as well keep with it even if some bad stuff has to happen..
though I'm sure I'm not alone in saying it would be appreciated if not a lot
of bad stuff had to happen. But if nuking ends up having to be done, fine and
oh well, but you'll never hear the end of it if you leave it at that and
decide to not follow through. :)

Back to Ed: "Here I'll debate that ScryMUD is still a mud. It's just all the
long-time players who've willingly or unknowingly exploited all the bugs
and oversights got bored. Who wouldn't get bored in a 100% repetitive
hack-n-slash world where there was nothing left to do that hadn't been done
and nobody fears losing their character. (i.e. fire-bladed trick)"

Think you need a qualifier somewhere in there.. I wouldn't get bored, heck I
don't get bored. I don't mean to say having company would be bad, and actually
socializing would be bad, I'd love to actually have people around to do all
that. But it's not the end of the world if it's a lonely world. And as I
believe I've told maybe Xag or SFN or someone, there is plenty to do. :P
Always. Don't get me started, I can always think up more. ;) And not fearing
losing one's character? Yeah, if you purposefully do nothing challenging, of
course there's no fear. I don't fear losing my char if I attack a rabbit, or a
citizen. Now trying taking Maedon solo (no charmies, no charmie trick), any
of the trainers solo.. take Gimbal solo. Take Barney, the demon, the
necromancer, solo. Take on a room of 4 greater nightmares solo. Take on Janus
solo, or Null. Those are just naming the challenges involved in fighting.

And since I just got Ging's e-mail... As for MOBs, if you think remorts don't
have fun splattering them if they're weaker (don't think that'd be entirely
accurate...), then make them weaker and we can work on a remort zone...? That
would keep tougher MOBs like that. iirc, no one asked for tougher MOBs, unless
I completely missed something. I just know one day they were uberfied and
Shamu said it was done for the remorts. I'm not saying I'm disappointed they
were made tougher. ... Ok, I guess having things tougher is more fun, but when
they're (somewhat) easy, it's still fun. And can't think, so that's that.
